
Swain Middle School is excited to announce that the 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony will be on Thursday, May 30th, 2024! This momentous event will be at the Swain County High School Gymnasium. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Bright Adventures is Celebrating being the FIRST Pre-K in NC to achieve Lighthouse Certification with a Leader March on our campus. Wear your maroon, park at SMS or in the lot across from the flashing light & be lined up in our parking lot by 10:55!

Shark Day in Ms. Jennifer, Ms. Savannah, and Ms. Karin's class at Bright Adventures Pre-K! Student made shark hats and learned so much about the amazing creature. Did you know sharks lose thousands of teeth in their lifetime? Crafts, and messy play was a part of the day too! Lots of hands on learning!

Congratulations to EC Teacher Lisa Cooke for winning the SCHS Rock Band raffle, she is now the proud owner of a 2012 Fender Malibu Alkaline Trio acoustic guitar! Swain High would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket. The Rock Band Club was able to raise $300 from sales, which will be used to purchase a new bass guitar for the club!


Field Day Information for East! We will have Field Day on Tuesday, May 28th. Please consider bringing your child extra clothes, a towel, and sunscreen! We will have water, track, and field events!

Deep Creek Day for our Kinders!





Yesterday was the End of Year Celebration Day!! Congratulations to our Preschoolers on a year full of learning!

East Run Club is coached by Ciera Wiggins and Sarah Bradley. This club has been practicing at East Elementary every Monday and Thursday after school and consists of over 40 students. On Saturday, May 18th at 7:15 am 25 East students were present, including one Pre-K jogger who completed the Strawberry Jam 5K! Another East student, Kree Stephenson completed the Half Marathon in 2 hours and 8 minutes! Charlie Clapsaddle, 5th Grade, finished fifth overall and first in his age group with a time of 21:59. James Gunter, 2nd Grade, came in second in his age group at 24:47.5, followed by Kirk Reed, 2nd Grade, third in his age group at 24:47.8. Rory Wachacha, 2nd Grade, finished first in her age group with a time of 26:32 followed by Aydah Nations, 2nd Grade, second in her age group, and finished with a time of 32:12. Lastly, Zooey Roughton, 5th Grade, finished third in her age group with a time of 29:53. This has been an incredible first season for this group and we could not be more proud of all of these future Swain Runners!







Tonight at 7pm, our very own award winning Swain High Concert Band will be performing in the Swain Arts Center. There will also be a special performance by the amazing Mountain Winds Community Band. You do not want to miss this free concert.
