Remote Learning Plan
Winter Weather has already had a significant effect on instructional time. If further weather-related closures occur beyond the eight days that we need to miss for our calendar waiver, the district may be required to implement remote instruction days, as allowed by state guidelines.
Preparing for Possible Remote Learning Days
To ensure continuity of learning, our teachers are preparing instructional work in advance so students are ready if a remote learning day is announced. Students may receive assignments in one or both of the following formats:
Take-home paper packets
Digital assignments accessible on Chromebooks
Expectations for Remote Learning Days
If Swain County Schools implements a remote learning day, please note the following expectations:
Students will complete the assigned work provided by their teachers.
Completed work will serve as attendance for that day.
All work must be submitted within three days of returning to school.
Attendance will be coded when work is received.
Families may contact teachers for assistance through email or ClassDojo.
Families will continue to receive updates regarding weather-related closures or remote learning days through our usual communication channels. We encourage parents and guardians to stay alert to calls, texts, and district announcements during winter weather events.
