Swain County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Holt as the new Executive Director of Academic Services and Innovation. Holt brings over two decades of dedicated service in North Carolina public education to the role, featuring extensive experience in instructional leadership, district accountability, and administrative oversight.
Holt most recently served as the Director of Testing and Accountability for Jackson County Public Schools. During his tenure, he directed key instructional and administrative initiatives, including leading the implementation of the North Carolina Student Information System (NCSIS). He also served as a mentor to new principals and test coordinators.
Throughout his career, Holt has served in numerous administrative and instructional capacities across Western North Carolina. His leadership background includes serving as Principal at Blue Ridge Early College, Assistant Principal and Lead Teacher at Cullowhee Valley School, and Middle School Mathematics Teacher at Cullowhee Valley and Waynesville Middle Schools.
Beyond his local district responsibilities, Holt has contributed to statewide educational initiatives as a member of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Accountability Advisory Committee (CCB) and as a certified Foundations of Math Trainer. He holds a Master in School Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Middle Grades Mathematics from Western Carolina University.

In his new role as Executive Director of Academic Services and Innovation, Holt will oversee strategic instructional programming, curriculum development, exceptional children and innovative learning practices across all district schools.
