Who We Are

The Swain County Schools Technology Department is a committed team of 7 professionals responsible for managing all aspects of technology across the school district. Our mission is to ensure Swain County Schools staff and students have the tools, infrastructure, and support needed to make technology a seamless part of teaching, learning and all job functions.

We support a user community of approximately 350 staff and 1850 students across 5 schools and 4 administrative sites. Our team manages hundreds of devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, chromebooks and other hardware that support digital learning inititives throughout the district.

Our responsibilities extend to maintaining the wired and wireless network infrastructure at each school, as well as the wide area network that connects all sites to our central Data Center. This Data Center houses critical servers and network equipment and serves as the district's hub for Internet connectivity.

District staff monitor the health and performance of the entire Swain County School's network. Our technicians resolve dozens of helpdesk request annually, most within a single day.

We also install and maintain classroom technology such as interactive flat panels, document cameras, etc. All technology purchases for the district are coordinated through our department to ensure consistency and quality.

Beyond these core functions, we provide specialized support for educational and administrative systems, including Infinite Campus, security cameras, VoIP phone systems and access control doors. We are proud to be a trusted resource for all technology needs across Swain County Schools.
