Licensure

Please visit the NCDPI Online Licensure website  for your licensure needs such as: 

  • Duplicate Copy of your current Professional Educator's License or Test Scores
  • Name Change on your current Professional Educator's License 
    • Appropriate legal documents to verify the change will be required (copies of marriage certificate, social security card, driver's license)
  • Apply for a NC Professional Educator's License
  • Renew or Update your NC Professional Educator's License

Renewal Information
 
North Carolina Continuing Professional License (CPL) must be renewed every five years on or after April 15th of the year that a license expires.  Each educator is responsible for knowing and satisfying their licensure renewal requirements. 
 

Please be sure to enter all professional development activities, workshops, and conferences in My Learning Plan.  

Renewal Requirements

Below are the credits required to renew a continuing educator license.

Grades K-5

 

·         3 Academic Subject Area Credits – Aligned to NC Teaching Standard 3 & 4

·         3 Literacy Credits

·         2 Digital Learning Competencies Credits

Grades 6-8

 

·         3 Academic Subject Area Credits – Aligned to NC Teaching Standard 3 & 4

·         3 Literacy Credits

·         2 Digital Learning Competencies Credits

Grades 9-12

 

·         3 Academic Subject Area Credits - Aligned to NC Teaching Standard 3 & 4

·         2 Digital Learning Competencies Credits

·         3 General Credits – Not to include years of experience

                                         Student Services Personnel

Media Coordinator, Social Workers, School Counselors, School Psychologists

 

·      3 Academic Subject Area Credits - Aligned to NC Teaching Standard 3 & 4

·         2 Digital Learning Competencies Credits

·         3 General Credits – Not to include years of experience

 

Administrators

 

·      3 Executive's Role Credits - Align with the expectations of the North Carolina Executive Standards 2, 4, and 5 focused on the instructional, human resources, and managerial leader

·         2 Digital Learning Competencies Credits

·         3 General Credits – Not to include years of experience
