Swain County Schools will be closed to all students Monday, September 7th, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Plan B - Schedule A students will be in person on Tuesday, Sept 8th and Wednesday, Sept 9th, while Schedule B students will be in person on Thursday, Sept 10th and Friday, Sept 11th.

The Swain County Board of Education will meet, Monday, August 31, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in the Swain County Administration Building, 50 Main Street, 3rd Floor Auditorium, Bryson City, NC 28713. This is a SPECIAL CALLED MEETING for the purpose of giving an update on school opening and COVID related impact, approval of personnel and a discussion of parent/student concerns. Closed session may be held at the end of the meeting.
Appropriate social distancing and mass gathering limits will be observed. The meeting will be

West Elementary will be dismissing today, Monday, August 17 at 11:00 am due to an air conditioner failure. The school cafeteria will be packing lunches for students to take home with them. More information will be released later today.

The Swain County School Nutrition Program is accepting free and reduced meal applications for the 2020-2021 school year.  Please go to www.lunchapplication.com to fill out the meal application electronically.  Filling out the meal application may also make you eligible for future P-EBT benefits, so we encourage you to get your application in as soon as possible.  If you are currently receiving food stamp benefits other than P-EBT or have children at Swain West Elementary only, you do not have to fill out the application because you are automatically eligible.  For questions or to receive a paper copy of the application please call 828-488-3129 ext. 5139 or email [email protected]

There will be a special called Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., in the Swain County Administration Building, 50 Main Street, 3rd Floor Auditorium, Bryson City, NC 28713 for the purpose of closing out the 2019-2020 school year.
