Swain County Schools STEM Coordinator Regina Ash held a 2 day workshop in Robitics this past week, titled We-Do Robotics, it was attended by 24 teachers. The first day was facilitated by Tom Dubick of Charlotte Latin School, the second day was curriculum development, integration, and exploration of the programming and robotics components. It was a great two days.
Swain 22nd in State Per Pupil Expenditure

From 2011 to 2014, Swain County Schools have improved their State ranking each year in per pupil expenditures. Currently, according to preliminary data, Swain is ranked 22nd in the State out of 115 LEAs. The NC State average for 2014 is $8,465. In 2014 Swain County Schools spent an average of $10,012 per pupil.
September Is Attendance Awareness Month

Swain County Schools has partnered with the Town of Bryson City and the Swain County Commissioners in delcaring September as Attendance Awareness Month in Swain County.
Did you know that children can suffer academically if they miss 10 percent of the school year? That’s just 18 days or 2 to 3 days a month. And that can add up before you know it. This September Swain County Schools is celebrating Attendance Awareness Month with a renewed push to get all kids to school—on time, every day.
PowerSchool Portal Available for Parents and Students

Swain County Schools encourages parents to use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to view student grades, attendance and other information. This portal is also available to students to view their information as well as take tests. For more information, contact your child's school.
