RED RIBBON WEEK
Our school will be participating in Red Ribbon Week October 27-31. This is a national week of Awareness of saying no to drugs. Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education. The ultimate goal being to live drug free lives.
This year we will be collecting can food to be donated to local agencies. Please bring a can of food to homeroom each day. A prize will be rewarded to the homeroom that collects the most cans.
By taking part in Red Ribbon Week we hope to raise awareness in all students on making good choices not only about drugs, but also helping others.
We have several activities planned for the week. We will be making a banner for the Friday night football game and we will have a guest speaker during home base time on Monday.
The following are dress-up days:
Monday- Follow Your Dreams- Not Drugs! Wear appropriate sleepwear & slippers.
Tuesday- Team up against drugs: Wear your favorite College Team shirt.
Wednesday- Teacher Workday.
Thursday- We’re Crazy About Being Drug Free! It’s Crazy Twin day.

Meningococcal meningitis is a rare yet serious infection that causes swelling of the brain or spinal cord. It is spread from person to person through close contact (sharing drinking glasses, eating utensils, kissing, or living in close quarters). Parents/guardians need to be aware that a vaccine is available to help protect preteens and teens from this potentially devastating disease. Also, effective July 1, 2015, one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV) will be required for individuals entering the 7th grade in NC or by 12 years of age, whichever comes first. Please view the Voices of Meningitis website for more information or contact your school nurse
